Dream big, Anne tells aspiring singers‎

Anne Curtis is still in a state of disbelief after filling the Big Dome to the rafters for her first major concert last month. Would she do it again? “My dream was just to have a concert and na-fulfill ko na ’yon,” she beams. “Although may world tour pa ’yong concert, we will bring it to Cebu first. Let’s see how it turns out. But a repeat in the same venue, baka ’di ko na kaya (laughs).”

What’s her advice to aspiring singers who, like herself, are not exactly blessed with strong pipes? “Dream big,” she quips. “My dream came true even if I wasn’t a professional singer. So I want to inspire people to pursue their dream, too. Attitude and determination lang ’yan.”

How did she and boyfriend Erwan Heussaff spend Valentine’s Day? “He cooked dinner,” she says. “Then we watched Audrey Hepburn movies.”

Does she see herself spending the rest of her life with Erwan? “I really hope so,” she says. “I’ve never felt this happy and peaceful. But as of now we have no marriage plans yet.”

Anne Curtis tops 'hottest women' list‎

After my Hottest Men column a couple of weeks ago, I now give you the Hottest Women. It’s but fair. And this list is so timely, what with the onset of summer’s scorching heat.

It’s quite difficult to draw up the list; there are simply so many to choose from. So I stretched it to 20. I believe that Filipinas are the most beautiful women, not only in Asia but also in the world.

What makes the Filipina stand out? Her wide mix of features (morena, mestiza, Chinese); her femininity and modernity, being a product of both the convent and Hollywood. Whatever it is, she’s always a standout, bar none.

I would like to thank all the men who volunteered to help me (or rather, coerced me) with this list. Out of the 40 I asked, there were several names that kept coming out, but the one name on everyone’s list in her category—and on top of mine, as well—is Anne Curtis.

History

When "Sa Linggo nAPO Sila" became "'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila" to replace Eat Bulaga which left ABS-CBN to transfer to GMA Network, ASAP was conceptualized and launched in 1995 as a "concert party" on Sundays. Then, Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez, along with Ariel Rivera and Dayanara Torres, were tapped as main hosts for the show. The cast of "Pare Ko" (Claudine Barretto, Victor Neri, etc.) became co-hosts for the show to attract the younger viewers. When Dayanarra Torres left the country, Charlene Gonzales took her place. Channel V’s Joey Mead also joined the show for a while. By 1997, regular guest Zsa Zsa Padilla became a regular host the following year. After Martin Nievera left, Richard Gomez took his place. In March 1999, Onemig Bondoc joined the group.

The show originally had their own theme song, set. Initial broadcast commenced on February 1995 at the Delta Theatre in Quezon Avenue. In January 1997, they transferred to their own studio at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center Studio 3 in Eugenio Lopez Drive in Quezon City. It was a few years later when they moved to Studio 10.

In 2003, the show was reformatted as ASAP Mania, after which some of its original hosts went to the show SOP Rules. In 2005 the format changed to ASAP '05. In 2008, Lani Misalucha joined ASAP. Karylle, Zsa Zsa Padilla's daughter, also joined ASAP.

On January 3, 2010, the show was relaunched as ASAP XV to mark its 15th anniversary. In the show's special anniversary on February 7, 2010, a new set was introduced. Anne-Bisyosa and First Major Solo Concert

Anne Curtis released her album “Anne-Bisyosa” from Viva Records after much prodding to her bosses to give her dream solo album. Curtis has always fantasized about recording her own album which has now become a reality as Viva Artists Agency, Anne’s management, and Viva Records finally released her debut album. “AnneBisyosa” will be a realization of one of Anne’s long-time aspirations. Fans of the actress/model as well as the casual listener will be pleasantly surprised with what Anne has prepared for them as “AnneBisyosa” is quite the pop record that reflects Anne’s fresh and bubbly nature. She starts off with an upbeat original called “Tinamaan Ako”, which is an OPM pop song. Keeping up with the up-tempo start is her cover of Cindy Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and a reworking of Cathy Dennis’ mid 90s hit “Too Many Walls,” remixed and arranged here by Anne’s “Showtime” co-host DJ M.O.D. Anne also chooses to remake New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” and her edgy pop take on Merril Bainbridge’s “Mouth” to give her listeners a bit more listening flavor. Switching onto ballads – Anne is all business with her take on a song-belter’s classic with “Alone.” And finally, lending star power to Curtis’ own overflowing celebrity is the one and only Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo on an entertaining duet on “Total Eclipse Of The Heart”.

After gaining good sales from her album whicht reached a certification of Gold in 2 weeks and Platinum in 2months; her first major solo concert is bound to happen. In an interview with ABS-CBN’s “E-live”, Curtis confirmed the solo concert. She added that there are no official details and announcement about the concert, but some of her fans already knew about it and they are excited. Way back, Curtis has participated in the major concert of Side A and Martin Nievera where she sang the ever popular “Alone.” Curtis hint the fans to expect fabulous costume changes, breathtaking dance performances, and mind blowing song numbers! Plus, her special guests will surely spice up this incredible night. The major solo concert is dubbed as No Other Concert: Anne-Bisyosa Live! World Tour and will kick-off at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on January 28, 2012. It is going to be directed by Rico Gutierrez while Marvin Querido will serve as musical director with lighting design by Shakira Villa Symes.
